We are pleased to announce the second round of nominations for the South Dakota Native Tourism Alliance Board of Directors!
The SDNTA is becoming a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization to support Native Nations in South Dakota to develop tourism-related businesses and activities. In August 2023, the SDNTA elected 11 individuals representing Native American organizations and businesses to serve on the initial Board of Directors. The Board is seeking interested individuals to fill the remaining ten open seats by December 1st.
There are seven seats available for members from Tribal Nations and Native organizations, and three seats available for at-large members who do not need to be Native American or from a Native organization.
To be eligible to serve on the Board of Directors, a person should be an engaged member of the SDNTAnetwork, and/or have an interest in South Dakota Native tourism-related businesses or activities. Per the updated bylaws, Non-Native individuals can be nominated, and actively serving tribal council persons are eligible for board membership.
Individuals from all nine Tribal Nations are encouraged to be nominated for the Board of Directors to ensure equal representation. The Board is seeking new nominations to ensure representation from the following Tribal Nations: Crow Creek Sioux Tribe, Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe, Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, and Yankton Sioux Tribe.
Today, we invite you to nominate individuals to serve on the SDNTA’s initial Board of Directors.
Please complete this form to nominate someone (or yourself) to serve on the SDNTA’s Board. The nomination period will be open until November 27th. Nominations will be reviewed and presented to the SDNTA network at our next virtual meeting in early December.
Details about Board Member eligibility and the nomination/election process can be found within the nomination form. If you have any questions, please email sdnativetourismalliance@gmail.com.
Thank you for your nominations!
