Greetings from the Digital Media major in the Art Department at Northern State University…

This Spring 2026, my Filmmaking/Broadcasting/Interactive (FBI) media production students and I are offering all South Dakota high schools an opportunity to engage in SCAPE – the South Dakota “Sportscasting, Cinema, & Audio-Podcasting Experience” – a series of free 2-4 day workshops on-location in the following digital-arts fields:

  • Documentary Filmmaking at your school and in the community
  • 1-3 Scene Narrative Film Production
  • Live Multi-Camera Sportscasting of one of your High School basketball games
  • Field and Studio Podcasting

Workshop Details…
These workshops would be at no cost to your school and my students and I would travel to your campus to host them.  We would also provide your students temporary use of our program’s media production equipment during these sessions.  Interested teachers/administrators should email me directly for more questions or to apply with the attached simple application form.

We only have six workshop windows available, so securing a timeslot will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis to schools who submit completed applications.  Once accepted, workshop content and schedules can be coordinated/adjusted between my office and the designated high school instructor to better fit with your class/school dynamics and needs.

My students and I feel these workshops would be a great opportunity to learn more about your school and community, get to know your arts programs and students’ interests, and demonstrate how our Digital Media program at Northern State can potentially take your students’ art in time-based media to the next level.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information,
