OpenAI has just announced the People-First AI Fund, a new $50M grant program for U.S.-based nonprofits (501(c)(3)s). The first wave of applications opens September 8, 2025 and closes October 8, 2025, with grants distributed by year’s end. The fund is designed to support nonprofits using artificial intelligence to expand access, improve service delivery, build resilience, and advance work in areas like education, equity, and community impact. Grants are unrestricted and available to both established and emerging organizations—even those without prior AI experience. We believe arts and culture organizations are well positioned to compete if they frame their work around community impact—using AI to broaden access, deepen education, and strengthen sustainability. Here’s where we come in.
