I Believe was a series of movement and visual art workshops for Sioux Falls inmates in 2023. The project was organized by Suzanne Costello, Artistic Co-Director of the Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theatre Company, Dance Assistant Sophia Diehl, and visual artist Ariadne Albright, instructor of Arts in Health at USD and owner of Creative Care. Curated by Albright, this exhibition addresses historical barriers incarcerated populations face in accessing the arts, aiming to nurture individuals’ well-being through artistic expression. Our closing reception—Friday, March 22, 5–7pm—will feature local speakers on art’s role in some of Vermillion’s institutional spaces and for the people within them.
