Legacy Woods Public Art Project

This project presents a significant $170,000 commission for an artist or artist team to create a permanent public art installation at Legacy Woods, a developing community hub. The goal is to design an artwork that reflects the area’s natural history and community narratives. Key aspects of this opportunity include:

    • Openness to various mediums and potential for multiple site locations.
    • Requirement for applicants to have completed at least three commissioned outdoor public art projects with budgets exceeding $75,000.
    • Emphasis on demonstrating an understanding of West Des Moines’ history, diversity, and cultural landscape.

2. Call for Artist Proposals
WDMurals Annual Exhibit

The 5th annual WDMurals exhibit is currently accepting proposals from Iowa artists to create murals along West Des Moines trails based on the theme of “Friends and Family.” Up to twelve artists will be selected, each receiving a $2,500 stipend. The exhibition will be on display from May 2025 to April 2026.
