Exciting opportunities are now open at First Peoples Fund’s Oglala Lakota Artspace (OLA)! We are delighted to announce that applications are now being accepted for the OLA Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Program and the Wicahpi Olowan Visiting Artist Program (VAP). Located in the heart of Kyle, South Dakota, on the Pine Ridge Reservation, these programs are designed to uplift and support artists and culture bearers from Oceti Sakowin Bands who are passionate about art and music in all its forms—whether traditional, historical, or contemporary. This is a wonderful chance for artists to expand their skills, collaborate with fellow creatives, and connect meaningfully with the community.

OLA AiR Overview

The Oglala Lakota Artspace Artist in Residence (AiR) Program supports Oceti Sakowinculture bearers and artists working across traditional and contemporary art forms. This residency provides uninterrupted time, space, and resources for artists to develop their practice, explore connections, and collaborate with local artists and the community.

Residency Benefits:

  • Duration: 2 to 6 weeks (June – November 2025)

  • Support Provided: Stipend, Supply Funding, Housing & Studio Space

WO Visiting Artist Program Overview

For artists focused on music and audio production, the Wicahpi Olowan Visiting Artist Program (VAP) offers a six-month residency at the Oglala Lakota Artspace recording studio.

Program Benefits:

  • $1,000 monthly stipend

  • Monthly check-ins with the Program Manager

  • Participation in professional development (NAPD)

  • Performance at the OLA Solstice or Equinox event

  • Access to the Wicahpi Olowan Music Studio
