September 2024: After 28 years in the art gallery business, Warrior’s Work and Ben West Gallery will close its doors Saturday, September 28. Co-owner Janna Emmel: “It’s been a great run. We’ve been fortunate to work with some wonderful artists, clients and staff over these many years in the Black Hills.” With husband Randy Berger, the two will host a “Last Hurrah” party from 10 to 5 on their last day.

Not a retirement, exactly, the couple owns their building at 277 Main Street, and have put it up for sale. “I’ll keep making leather frames for clients and other galleries at least until the building sells,” says Randy, adding, “We’re looking forward to some traveling time, some van-camping in the summers. I’d like to be on the other side of the counter for a change.”
