The annual Arts Education Institute (AEI) offers professional development in arts and learning for all South Dakota teachers and administrators Pre-K through 12th grade.
AEI offers an educational and fun-filled week of learning to infuse the arts into classrooms and curriculum development. This year hands-on art, theatre and music workshops offer many affordable opportunities for all Pre-K through 12th grade educators July 16-19 at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. You DO NOT need to be an educator, everyone is encouraged to attend.
Workshops offered include Watercolor for Beginner & Intermediate Levels, Ukulele for Beginners, Gouache Plein Air Landscape Painting, Script to Stage: Conceptualization & Design for Theatrical Application, Choosing Repertoire for Young Singers, Google Apps & Web-based graphic software on Cloud, Screw Portraits, Elementary Music Methods-Creating & Improvisation in the Music Classroom, Papermaking, Printmaking, Moving & Grooving in Elementary General Music, Low Tech Printmaking for Clay, Introduction to 4-Harness Weaving, Magnified Butterfly Wings, Surface Design: Developing Digital Seamless Repeats for Design Applications, Basic Stained Glass for the Art Instructor, Lost Wax Casting Techniques, Secondary Music Methods-Exploring Instrumental and Vocal Ensemble Teaching, iPhotography: The Art of Mobile Photography, and Beginning Hand-Made Books
AEI is offered for two graduate, undergraduate or continuing education renewal credits. Information and registration is available at www.ArtsSouthDakota.org or by calling 605-252-5979 ext. 1. Class sizes are limited and registration fees increase after May 31.
