I am pleased to announce that the Department of Visual + Performing Arts at Cabrini University will be hosting its fifth annual Art + Effect High School Poster Contest this fall. The objective of the contest is for students to create a conceptual poster that promotes COMMUNITY.

Due to COVID-19, the world has struggled with maintaining a sense of community as life pivoted to being physically distant and learning virtually. The pandemic has magnified existing social issues such as inequality and mental health. Community builds a sense of belonging and promotes personal growth. Art + Effect wants student poster submissions to focus on solutions, and the positive impact community has on society as changemakers. The interpretation and promotion of ideas of “community” are open for exploration. Possible topics related to this subject might include, but are not limited to, BIPOC, wellness, volunteering, lessons learned from isolation, what has come to be of value, the impact of community well-being, and more.
