The Journey Museum is pleased to announce a special day of events on May 11, 2024, to celebrate the  unique relationship between the Horse and the Ochéthi Šakówin. Presented in partnership with The  Heritage Center at Maȟpíya Lúta | Red Cloud, the day will include a horse honoring ceremony on the  museum grounds, a panel discussion, and the premier theatrical screening of Keith Brave Heart’s newest  film INSPIRED- Horse Nation of the Ochéthi Šakówin. This special event offers all members of the  community the opportunity to connect in celebration of both the Horse and the cultural heritage of the  Ochéthi Šakówin 

The schedule of events is as follows: 

  • 1 PM 

Horse Honoring Ceremony on the south lawn of Journey Museum with James Star Comes Out  and Bridget Williams of Red Horse Healing 

  • 2:30 

Panel Discussion in Journey Museum Theater  

  • 4-5:30 PM 

Screening of film INSPIRED- – Horse Nation of the Ochéthi Šakówin in the Journey Museum  Theater 

A special pop-up exhibit of artwork will be on view inside the Journey Museum Galleries during the  event. The exhibit includes 3 horse masks and one ledger art piece created by artists included in the  exhibit as well as large scale community developed artworks from Keith Braveheart.
