Artist Becky Grismer combines old and new photographs to create imagined landscapes where people and saintly beings with imagined identities exist. In Imagined, Grismer combines human and tree forms to bring into existence sculptures that represent the human experience and parallel the natural world. Taking inspiration from her family’s history and her upbringing, Grismer includes family photographs in many of her works.  Grismer utilizes a variety of natural materials including tree bark, clay, encaustic wax, paper dyed with foliage and other mixed media in a number of combinations to create both sculptures and mixed media paintings.
