Every year the Sturgis Area Arts Council puts on a summer musical production ~ and this year is no exception! This year, the high-energy show “Mamma Mia” will be presented from June 20-23. This show features some of the most well-known hits from ABBA, one of the most popular and successful pop musical acts of all time. ABBA topped the charts worldwide from 1974-1982 and again from 2016-2022 following their reunion.

“Mamma Mia” follows Sophie, a young woman who is searching for her birth father, who ends up inviting three possible candidates from her mother’s past. Throughout the show, the story is told through enjoyable musical numbers, all covers of songs by ABBA.

Auditions will be held April 28-29 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. at Grace Lutheran Church in Sturgis under the directorship of Shirlene Joseph. Cast members include Sophie (the daughter – 18 or older), Donna (the mother – 40+), Sam, Bill, and Harry (possible fathers to Sophie – 40+), Sky (Sophie’s fiance – 18+), Tanya and Rosie (Donna’s friends – 40+), Lisa and Ali (Sophie’s friends – 18+), Pepper (Barman), Eddie (watersports expert), and a large chorus of islanders, workers, wedding guests, and friends (all ages and genders).

This is the musical for you if you want high-energy, great music, and summer fun!
