The Grand River Arts Council is the recipient of a grant from the Arts Midwest GIG Grant fund. The funding provides flexible matching grants for nonprofit organizations to present artistic performances and engagements in Midwestern communities. The grant funds help cover fees for artists and project costs.

The arts council selected Katie Dwyer as their artist. Katie Dwyer is a singer, songwriter, and music producer based out of Central South Dakota. Creative since childhood Katie started sharing her music publicly in her late teens. She is half of the band Moon & Sea, Short Grass Arts Council board member, custom songwriter, freelance audiobook narrator for audible and the South Dakota Historical Society Press, and owner of Heartbeat Kick Productions.

Katie Dwyer will be in Lemmon to work with students and people of all ages from March 5-8, 2024. She will be offering several concert opportunities, including a full performance open to the public at the Palace Theater on March 7, 2024 at 7 pm. Donations will be welcomed at the concert, in lieu of ticketing. Funds will be used for the matching portion of the grant as well as to continue to bring more arts opportunities to the community.

Classes will also be offered by Ms. Dwyer. The classes will be free of charge. Topics include intro to ukulele (with instruments for lessons provided by Grand River Arts Council if you do not have your own), Songwriting, and Music Production. The classes are for all ages, with ages 8-100 being the targeted learners. For more information on the classes and to register, visit our Facebook Page @Grand River Arts Council.
