The Wayne Public Art Committee is excited to announce the formation of the community’s first sculpture walk. Our goal is to increase the quantity and quality of public art in Wayne. We want to bring additional opportunities for our residents and visitors to experience the talents and inspirations of professional artists, while beautifying our community.
We plan for the selected sculptures (no more than 10 our first year) to change each year. We hope to have all sculptures this first year installed before May 1, 2021.
Artists are invited to enter up to three (3) of their works for consideration. We are committed to market the sculptures by:
- Publishing a brochure and map of the sculptures (at minimum, paper-based throughout the community; a mobile platform will be utilized if funding is available);
- A Plaque with the name of the artist, brief description of the piece, and an artist’s price for the piece.
All selected artists will receive a $1,000 stipend for each entry selected by the committee and once that art piece is delivered/installed.
Please submit an application with photographs and/or concept sketches by December 18, 2020. We prefer these to be front views as well as side or back views of the artwork.
Up to ten (10) artists/exhibits will be chosen to submit their sculptures to participate in the Wayne Sculpture Walk. The chosen artists will be notified by January 22, 2021 to formally participate in this project.
