Project Description
•In 2010 the Brookings Arts Council began an annual sculpture rotation opportunity supported by the patronage of local art benefactors, Bob and Jean Jostad. The project funded an annual outdoor sculpture exhibition for an emerging sculptor, and under the mission of the BAC, “encouraged community connections through the arts by providing a supporting environment for awareness, appreciation, and participation.” This “Call for Submissions” marks the 7th year for the BAC’s own Sculpture Project.

Sculpture Criteria
•All sculptures need to be made of durable materials for the yearlong outdoor setting and be constructed with public safety in mind.
• All sculpture sizes are welcome for submission, but need to stand alone without the need of a pedestal. The winning sculpture needs to be surface mounted within a 36” ground level base.
• Each sculptor may submit up to three pieces for judging.
• Delivery and Pickup of the sculpture is the responsibility of the artist.

Award, Sale, and Insurance
• The sculptor ultimately selected for exhibition of the annual Sculpture Project will receive a $1000 honorarium, with agreement of the chosen sculpture to be displayed for 1 year.
• The BAC reserves the right to use images submitted by successful applicants for publicity purposes. Should your piece be chosen and you wish it to be for sale, the BAC receives a 25% commission upon the sale of the sculpture.
• Every reasonable precaution will be taken to assure the safety of the chosen sculpture. However, the BAC will not be responsible for loss or damage to the chosen piece. Sculptors are responsible for insuring their own work.
