We wanted to remind you of the upcoming deadline (Friday, September 22, 2023) for the brand-new, nonmatching, competitive grant program we have developed called the TAP Grant – Tourism Advertising Promotion Grant.
The TAP Grant Program was created to provide additional marketing dollars to South Dakota’s tourism industry. The grant is intended to help increase travel/visitation to tourism-related events while enhancing the state’s image. The purpose of this nonmatching, competitive grant is to provide marketing funds for tourism-related events such as fairs, festivals, concerts, rodeos, powwows, or special anniversary events for businesses, communities, or attractions. The event may be new or ongoing. This grant program is focused on providing funding to events in smaller towns, cities, and rural areas of the state. However, events which take place anywhere in South Dakota are encouraged to apply for funding.
This competitive grant program will run on a state fiscal year, July 1 to June 30. The deadline to apply for state fiscal year 2024 is Friday, September 22, 2023. Grant dollars will be awarded around November/December 2023, so keep that in mind when considering whether to submit an application. We strongly encourage successful grant recipients to begin their marketing at least 60 days in advance of the event. Please know the application deadline for state fiscal year 2025 will occur much earlier. We plan for the FY25 application window to be April 1 – May 15, 2024.
