Avera is in the process of constructing a new building on the main campus at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital. Avera is desirous of appropriate artwork throughout the building, in prominent locations near elevator lobbies, and in the transitional hallway between the public lobby and clinical departments.  The facility is scheduled to open in October 2018.

This facility is unique in that we will be doing three separate call to artists.  This last call and final call is for our photography for the clinics and transitional hallways.

Mission and Vision

The development of the Avera Helmsley Center is in keeping with the mission of Avera Health:

“Avera is a health ministry rooted in the Gospel.  Our mission is to make a positive impact in the lives and health of persons and communities by providing quality services guided by Christian values.”

Scope of Building

The new building, the Helmsley Center, will be home to The Avera Cancer Clinic, Pierre several specialty clinics, a café, and some administration offices.

    • Images that reflect our diversity.
    • Positive reaction to Native American art and images.
    • Water, scenery, living trees and living plants.
    • Images of our normal daily lives (sporting events, harvest, planting etc).
    • People are comfortable with the familiar.
    • Avoid images of sunsets and roads leading to nowhere.
