Outside of Deadwood Grant Program Deadline
Deadwood, SD − Since 2002, the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission has helped promote the preservation and interpretation of historic sites, buildings, and properties, throughout the state with the Outside-of-Deadwood Grant program. The program stimulates quality restoration, protection and rehabilitation of projects that contribute to an understanding of Deadwood’s unique history. This total exceeds $4.5 million dollars. For 2019 the total yearly amount awarded is set at $100,000 or $50,000 per each funding round.
In the past Outside-of-Deadwood Grants have been awarded to 53 South Dakota communities including but not limited to: Groton, Madison, Buffalo Gap, Sisseton, Dell Rapids, Hitchcock, Hot Springs, Huron, Ft. Pierre, Madison, Gettysburg, Philip, Gregory, Lead, Pierre, Rapid City, Spearfish and Sioux Falls.
Grants are awarded over the course of two funding rounds each year in January and June. National Historic Landmarks or National Register properties owned and operated by a not-for-profit or governmental entities are welcome to apply. Other projects with a relationship to Deadwood’s history organized by not-for-profits are also encouraged to apply. Funds will typically not exceed $10,000.
Deadwood is pleased to announce that interested parties may apply for first round considerations by January 18, 2019. In order to be considered, applications must be delivered to the Deadwood Historic Preservation Office located at 108 Sherman Street, Deadwood, SD 57732 on or before January 18, 2019 by 4:00 p.m., MST.
