CLEAR LAKE ARTS CENTER – EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Position Title: Executive Director Reports to: Board of Directors

The Clear Lake Arts Center (CLAC) located in Clear Lake Iowa is seeking an Executive Director (ED) who will be responsible for the leadership and management of the organization and for ensuring quality programming, financial stability and sustainability. The ED isrecognized as the public “face” of the organization, speaking for and advocating for the Arts Center.

Core Accountabilities

Leadership and Management

  •   Ensures all stakeholders are aware of the mission, vision and core values of the Arts Center.
  •   Manages in a way which is entrepreneurial and innovative
  •   Implements policies and procedures and provide clear direction to enhance the mission and operation of CLAC
  •   Demonstrates proficiency in development, grant-making, and donor engagement and retention.
  •   Establishes measurable results for key outcomes
  •   Demonstrates fiscal management and accurate budgeting
  •   Motivates and manages operations, maximizing the potential of staff and volunteers
  •   Develops relationships with members, donors, artists, educators and civic leaders
  •   Develops partnerships with area cultural organizations, non-profits and arts centers across Iowa
  •   Communicate the value of the CLAC and its programs to multiple audiences

    Program Management

  •   Ensure the development of innovative, engaging and instructive programs to attract a broad range of participants
  •   Promote and increase participation in programs and monitor effectiveness
  •   Recruit and retain qualified instructors to meet the needs of the community

    External Relations and Community Engagement

  •   Be CLAC’s ambassador and raise visibility throughout the region
  •   Has experience and can create or direct effective marketing strategies geared to a variety of audiences
  •   Actively engage relationships with schools, local leaders, community members, and the arts community

    Board Relations and Governance

  •   Responsive to the Arts Center Board, providing accurate and timely information
  •   Work with the Board to create Committees to conduct and enhance the work of the CLAC

    Fundraising and Financial Management

  •   Manage CLAC’s fiscal activities; be responsible for sound financial practices, reading and preparing budgets
  •   Implement a fundraising strategy and multi-year plan to support existing program operations
  •   Cultivate and maintain relationships with all CLAC’s funders
  •   Identify new sources of funding, cultivate relationships with new potential donors, and ensure the organization thrives
  •   Ensure programs are carried out in a cost-effective manner and that CLAC operates within budget guidelines
  •   Ensure that all records and documents are accurate and maintained

    Experience

  •   Significant experience in a management role in a non-profit or successful business including staff supervision
  •   Demonstrated ability to create and execute successful fundraising strategies, grant writing, contracts, special events and

    individual donor fundraising

  •   Exceptional written and oral communication skills and experience in public speaking
  •   Experience in program development

Offer commensurate with experience. Salary range: $35,000 – $40,000/year. Approximately 32 hour work week. The position requires flexibility including some evening and weekend supervision or work.
