The Brookings Arts Council (BAC) is located in the recently renovated historic former Carnegie Library. There are 103 feet of wall space and approximately 1300 square feet of floor space between two galleries. There are a variety of pedestals of various sizes available for use.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRY SUBMISSION:

Entries must be postmarked no later than May 14th, 2021

NOTIFICATION :

Applicants will be notified of the decision of the Exhibition Committee by June 11th, 2021.

EXHIBITION AGREEMENT:

Notification of selection of the artist as an exhibitor will be accompanied by copies of the BAC Exhibition agreement to be signed and returned to the BAC.

SELECTION PROCESS:

The BAC Exhibition and Programs Committee will review the submissions and will judge each on resume, artist’s statement, artistic vision, creativity, technical mastery, and if the work is coherent with the artist’s statement.

HOW TO APPLY :

A digital file indelibly labeled with the artist’s name and number of works. A digital file must contain .jpeg or .PDF files (200 dpi only) of no fewer than five or no more than ten images of their work produced in the last five years. No individual image size should be greater than 2 megabytes.

A list containing titles of images on the digital files, dimensions of work, media, and weight of three- dimensional works. Please number images on to correspond to numbers of the artwork on the digital file folder.

Submissions are to be representative of a single artist. The BAC will consider submissions from a group of artists only if there is a central thematic context in the group submission. The BAC reserves the right to be the sole judge as to whether a central thematic context exists in a group submission and its decision shall be final.

The Exhibition Committee reserves the right to combine the works of two artists in a single show if their works are deemed thematically, culturally visually, and/or intellectually complementary or in such significant contrast as to be intellectually stimulating to the viewer.

BAC Board Members are ineligible to enter.

Art presented for display that departs substantially from the nature and character of the sample slides submitted for evaluation will be excluded from the exhibit at the sole discretion of the Exhibition Committee of the BAC.

Every reasonable precaution will be taken to assure the safety of submitted artwork. However, the Brookings Arts Council will not be responsible for loss or damage to artwork, however caused. Artists are responsible for insuring their own work.

The BAC reserves the right to use images submitted by successful applicants for publicity purposes. Should your work be accepted, the center receives a 25% commission on any works sold.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
