ARTISTS’ RECEPTION: TBD
WHERE: Brennan, Dahl Arts Center
WHY: Bringing ART + PEOPLE together
The Rapid City Arts Council (RCAC) is pleased to announce an exhibition of recent monoprints and oil paintings by Roger Broer. The show will be located in the Brennan of the Dahl Arts Center and will run from 17 July through 17 October, 2020. As part of the show, the RCAC will host an artist’s reception for Broer on a day that is to be determined.
As an artist with a self-described short attention span, Broer has always found the immediacy of monotype to be a comfortable process for his way of working. In this new body of work, gallery visitors will still be able to recognize the artist’s signature style of incorporating animal and human characters into his creative world. Sometimes they occupy their own world and sometimes they crossover into each other’s space. We can also still look to Broer’s titles, to find hints into the content of his work.
Roger Broer grew up in rural Randolph, NE. He received his BA in art from Eastern Montana College, now the University of Montana, Billings, and completed additional graduate-level coursework in fine art at Central Washington University. A full-time artist since 1979, Broer has exhibited his work in more than thirty-five solo exhibitions and more than one hundred group shows throughout the United States.
This exhibit is sponsored by Jeff and Linda Lea Viken, Akta Lakota Museum & Cultural Center, St. Joseph’s Indian School, Steve and Nancy Babbitt, the Rapid City Arts Council, and the South Dakota Arts Council.
