The Rapid City Arts Council is pleased to announce our latest exhibit, The South Dakota Governor’s 9th Biennial Art Exhibition. This exhibit is the premier showcase for artists currently living and working in South Dakota. The Biennial will be on display from Friday, December 3rd through Saturday, March 5th with a closing reception on Friday, March 4th at 5pm.
This juried exhibition serves as a historical record sharing some of South Dakota’s greatest artists and their best works with audiences as it travels through it’s four venues across the state. This year’s Biennial jurors selected 66 final pieces from over 300 entries from artists working throughout the state.
The South Dakota Governor’s Biennial Art Exhibition was established in 2003 to recognize and encourage South Dakota artists and to promote the artistic identity of the state. It celebrates the cultural and artistic heritage as well as the future of South Dakota. The exhibit travels to several venues around the state for an entire year. This year the three other locations include the South Dakota Art Museum, the John A. Day Gallery, Vermilion and the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science, Sioux Falls.
