Exhibition of artwork by Becky Grismer, on display November 9 – February 19 in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery on Northern’s campus.
Grismer is an alumna of the Northern State University Art Department. Taking Root addresses various themes involving the human condition. Grismer’s artist statement explains some of the common themes as: “putting down our roots and being uprooted, disease, and death, new life, hosting other living organisms, and elimination of population due to natural disaster or human action.” Grismer incorporates natural materials into her sculptures, and draws upon family photos for her encaustic compositions.
Due to COVID-19, there will not be an opening reception. There will be a Virtual Artist Talk on Thursday, February 4 starting at 8:00pm.
Gallery hours: Monday through Friday 7:30am-9:00pm
