Monday – Who’s Afraid of Shakespeare?

Together we’ll dissect and workshop some of Shakespeare’s best known speeches and scenes, leaving Shakespeare phobia behind. Featuring pieces from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, Merchant of Venice, and Henry V.

Tuesday – Audition Boot Camp
What should you wear? What to prepare? What song should you sing? How do you handle a cold reading? For that matter, what is a cold reading? How do you conquer your nerves? Learn the ins and outs of auditioning with the help of BHCT’s staff. We’ll put you through your paces, in a supportive environment.

Wednesday – A Play in a Day
In a single morning, young aspiring playwrights will turn their creative ideas into completed one-act plays. As a bonus, BHCT actors will drop in to read the finished work. Students will leave the session with a handful of new ideas and a sense of accomplishment.

Thursday – Stage Combat
Led by BHCT artistic director Zach Curtis, this workshop will teach fundamental techniques in the various fight disciplines used in performance. Students will gain personal command and understanding of their bodies in relation to theatrical physical contact, and be encouraged in their artistic exploration of effective movement.

Friday — Everything we can show-and-tell you about theatre in a single morning; onstage, offstage, backstage, and the booth.
