DESCRIPTION:In this deeply moving account of America’s greatest Indian war\, viewers are quickly immersed in the world of Lakotas and Northern Cheyennes\, and their futile struggle in the 1870s to retain a lifeway on the buffalo prairie.  Those ever-committed Northern Indians faced a succession of white invaders: railroaders\, borderland surveyors\, prospectors\, and ultimately the United States Army. \nIn the best of days\, they turned back George Crook at the Rosebud and wiped out George Armstrong Custer at the Little Big Horn. But a dozen other clashes followed\, and in the end these tradition-minded people could not endure the army’s endless hounding. Some fled to Canada to a luring if momentary exile\, but in the end one and all faced starvation\, submission\, and\, for some\, death. Sitting Bull’s War is the saga of a people intent only on adhering to a traditional life on the buffalo prairie.

To hear an acoustic quartet reach a level of dynamic and thematic intensity like The Two Tracks do is an immeasurably rewarding experience. It’s pure musicianship\, it’s pure excellence\, it’s pure Americana.” – American Songwriter\nRooted in the wide-open landscapes of Wyoming\, The Two Tracks create music that fuses rich storytelling\, soulful harmonies\, and the spirit of the American West. Led by songwriters Julie and Dave Huebner. With Taylor Phillips on bass and Fernando Serna on drums\, the band has carved out a sound that nods to ’70s Americana while forging something entirely their own. Dave’s signature cello playing\, woven into the band’s four-part harmonies\, brings a distinctive edge that sets them apart. \nWith four acclaimed albums and tours across the U.S. and abroad—including a performance at the World Expo in Dubai—the band has graced major stages such as Americanafest (TN)\, Kate Wolf Music Festival (CA)\, Albino Skunk Music Festival (SC)\, Red Ants Pants (MT)\, and NewWestFest (CO). They’ve also shared bills with artists like Orville Peck\, Eilen Jewell\, The Brothers Comatose\, and Shook Twins.\nTheir most recent release\, It’s a Complicated Life\, produced by Will Kimbrough and engineered by Grammy-winner Sean Sullivan\, highlights the band’s dynamic range: from Julie’s raw reflections in The Push and The Pull and Dave’s heartfelt Momma’s Gone\, to political anthems like Workingman’s Blues and the infectious rocker In the Morning.\nAt the heart of The Two Tracks is a deep commitment to connection\, on stage and on record. Its name reflects its purpose\, a place of honor\, remembrance\, and vision for the future. This new space was created to uplift creativity\, preserve stories and traditions\, and serve as a welcoming gathering place for learning\, connection\, and community for generations to come. \nA LEGACY ROOTED IN HISTORY  \nFormerly known as The Heritage Center at Maȟpíya Lúta\, Čhatkú Arts Center began in 1969 as the Red Cloud Indian Art Show. Today\, the Center continues this legacy through a gift shop featuring the work of more than 300 Native artists\, a renowned collection of nearly 13\,000 pieces of Native art\, a gallery hosting two to three exhibitions each year\, the annual art show\, and much more. \nOUR MISSION  \nČhatkú Arts Center interprets\, honors\, and celebrates the continuum of contemporary artistic expressions of Indigenous people.
