Together\, these sessions uplift Lakota knowledge around traditional foods\, medicines\, land stewardship\, and plant sovereignty. Planning and facilitation will be led by LAC Director DeCora Hawk. \nOur previous series drew over 2000 attendees\, highlighting the passion of our community to learn about traditional plants and medicines and to reclaim our responsibility as stewards of our homelands.\n \nWe look forward to gathering with you to share knowledge\, stories\, and teachings that nourish our people and our land.

SUMMARY:LEGO Contest & STEAM Fair
DESCRIPTION:The Lead Deadwood Arts Center will be sponsoring its 22nd Annual Free LEGO Contest on Friday\, April 17\, 2026 at Lead Deadwood High School\, 320 S. Main in Lead. The event is open to all and will be held in conjunction with a STEAM Fair sponsored by the Lead Deadwood Schools. Registration will take place from 6 to 6:30 p.m. with judging beginning at 6:30 p.m. Participants should create a LEGO sculpture at home and enter it in the contest. Judging will be based on creativity and originality\, so the less LEGO kit parts used\, the better. Grade categories will be Pre-K\, 1 & 2\, 3 & 4\, 5 & 6\, 7 & 8\, high school and adults. Awards will be given for the top three in each category. (For easier transport of your sculpture to the high school\, please use the back door of gym on CC Curran Avenue). DESCRIPTION:In this deeply moving account of America’s greatest Indian war\, viewers are quickly immersed in the world of Lakotas and Northern Cheyennes\, and their futile struggle in the 1870s to retain a lifeway on the buffalo prairie.  Those ever-committed Northern Indians faced a succession of white invaders: railroaders\, borderland surveyors\, prospectors\, and ultimately the United States Army. \nIn the best of days\, they turned back George Crook at the Rosebud and wiped out George Armstrong Custer at the Little Big Horn. But a dozen other clashes followed\, and in the end these tradition-minded people could not endure the army’s endless hounding. Some fled to Canada to a luring if momentary exile\, but in the end one and all faced starvation\, submission\, and\, for some\, death. Sitting Bull’s War is the saga of a people intent only on adhering to a traditional life on the buffalo prairie.

SUMMARY:Liana Robinson
DESCRIPTION:Liana Robinson is a mixed-media artist who returned to the arts after many years away to process emotions and address the effects of traumatic life events. As a self-taught artist\, her practice grew through exploration and trial and error. Robinson uses a three-step process in her work\, beginning with a fluid backdrop of psychedelic colors. She then layers over the paint with collaged images to tell her story. She brings whimsy to her work by incorporating found objects and other adornments such as flowers\, glitter\, or beads. Often\, more paint is added over the images to intensify the visual effects. Many of her pieces reflect her journey towards self-acceptance\, empowerment\, and finding joy and beauty in life. Robinson’s work has been featured on the album cover of the local band\, Neon Eyes. This is her first exhibition.
