SUMMARY:The Dead & Down and My Second Rodeo
DESCRIPTION:Cascadel (formerly The Dead & Down)| April 10\, 7PM | The Matthews Opera House. Alt-country meets prog-rock in a sound that refuses to fit in one bin.\nCascadel is an indie roots-rock band that refuses to stay in one lane. Fronted by Taylor Burlage’s introspective songwriting and dusty vocals\, they blend alt-country\, atmospheric indie rock\, psychedelia\, and unexpected prog-rock detours into something that feels entirely their own. Their Montana roots run deep\, and so does their ambition—they’ve opened for Fruition\, Futurebirds\, and Blind Pilot\, and their 2024 release No Broken Bones proves they’re a band willing to take real chances. As one critic put it: “Alt-country\, but on the moon—and still so down to earth.”\nYou’re in for a night of music that stays interesting. April 10\, 2026 at The Matthews Opera House & Arts Center. Doors TBD\, show time 7:00 PM. Tickets are $20. My Second Rodeo opens the show. Come early\, stay late\, and bring friends who appreciate the kind of songwriting that makes you think and move at the same time.\nThis is the kind of music and artistry we’re proud to bring to downtown Spearfish. When bands like Cascadel choose to play here\, it’s a reminder that the Black Hills are on the creative map.\nGrab your tickets now. At $20 and with a night this good\, seats won’t wait around.

SUMMARY:The Two Tracks
DESCRIPTION:2022 & 2024 Wyoming Arts Council Performing Arts Fellowship Winners\n“They avoid many of the cliches and gimmicks that have grown common in the Americana world while still championing a natural\, Earth-grown sound. To hear an acoustic quartet reach a level of dynamic and thematic intensity like The Two Tracks do is an immeasurably rewarding experience. It’s pure musicianship\, it’s pure excellence\, it’s pure Americana.” – American Songwriter\nRooted in the wide-open landscapes of Wyoming\, The Two Tracks create music that fuses rich storytelling\, soulful harmonies\, and the spirit of the American West. Led by songwriters Julie and Dave Huebner. With Taylor Phillips on bass and Fernando Serna on drums\, the band has carved out a sound that nods to ’70s Americana while forging something entirely their own. Dave’s signature cello playing\, woven into the band’s four-part harmonies\, brings a distinctive edge that sets them apart. \nWith four acclaimed albums and tours across the U.S. and abroad—including a performance at the World Expo in Dubai—the band has graced major stages such as Americanafest (TN)\, Kate Wolf Music Festival (CA)\, Albino Skunk Music Festival (SC)\, Red Ants Pants (MT)\, and NewWestFest (CO). They’ve also shared bills with artists like Orville Peck\, Eilen Jewell\, The Brothers Comatose\, and Shook Twins.\nTheir most recent release\, It’s a Complicated Life\, produced by Will Kimbrough and engineered by Grammy-winner Sean Sullivan\, highlights the band’s dynamic range: from Julie’s raw reflections in The Push and The Pull and Dave’s heartfelt Momma’s Gone\, to political anthems like Workingman’s Blues and the infectious rocker In the Morning.\nAt the heart of The Two Tracks is a deep commitment to connection\, on stage and on record. Their four-part harmonies\, heartfelt songwriting\, and joyful energy resonate long after the last note\, leaving audiences with the sense of having truly shared an experience. Album #5 is already on the horizon\, slated for a 2026 release.\nDoors open at 6:00 PM\, and the show starts at 7:00 PM on Friday\, April 3\, 2026\, right here at The Matthews Opera House. Tickets are $25 + Fees

SUMMARY:AUDITIONS: The Importance of Being Earnest
DESCRIPTION:March 30th & 31st @ 5:30pm\nStep into the spotlight and be part of our vibrant arts community in The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. A trivial comedy for serious people.\nNo experience necessary! You will be asked to read with other participants from sections of the script previously selected by the directors. All auditions will be performed as a “cold read” (seeing the script for the first time). Auditions are also a great time to express your interest in backstage work\, set building\, lights and all of the other necessary skills that make a show great! Stop by if you have any interest in the action “behind the scenes” and visit with the directors. \nThe Importance of Being Earnest – Directed by Melita Quinonez \nThe Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde is a sparkling comedy of manners that follows two young gentlemen\, Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff\, who invent alter egos to escape social obligations and pursue romance. Jack leads a respectable life in the country but pretends to be a wayward brother named “Ernest” when he visits London. Algernon\, equally mischievous\, adopts the name Ernest himself to charm Jack’s ward\, Cecily.\nAs their double lives collide\, misunderstandings multiply\, engagements are tested\, and the formidable Lady Bracknell lays down the law.
