SUMMARY:Meredith Willson’s THE MUSIC MAN
DESCRIPTION:There’s trouble in River City when a fast-talking salesman gets his heart stolen by the town librarian. Meredith Willson’s six-time\, Tony Award-winning musical comedy The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman\, Harold Hill\, as he cons the people of River City\, Iowa\, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this\, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian\, the librarian\, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall. Featuring songs such as “Seventy-Six Trombones\,” “Trouble\,” “‘Til There Was You\,” “Pickalittle” and “Gary\, Indiana\,” The Music Man is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation.

SUMMARY:The Importance of Being Earnest
DESCRIPTION:Oscar Wilde wrote the funniest play in the English language\, and The Importance of Being Earnest is coming to The Matthews with crisp pacing\, a stylish look\, and laughs that land fast. This production keeps Wilde’s razor-sharp dialogue front and center\, with active physical comedy\, quick turns\, and a cast built for speed and chemistry. Expect mistaken identities\, secret engagements\, and the kind of wit you quote on the way home. If you want a “name” comedy that’s pure fun and easy to bring friends to\, this is the one.\nIt’s a witty\, fast-paced night out with a lightly modern aesthetic (not stuffy\, not overly precious) that keeps the focus on language\, characters\, and momentum. Show dates are May 14–17 at 7:00 PM\, including a double-header matinee and evening on May 16. Reserved seating. Tickets are $25 adult / $15 student. Come ready for big laughs\, sharp banter\, and a high-energy final scene that goes delightfully off the rails.\nThe Matthews has been bringing live theater to Spearfish for over 120 years\, and this production continues that tradition with a local cast and a creative team that knows how to fill a stage. Classic work\, made fresh\, right here downtown.\nSeats are limited by design\, and this run moves fast. Grab your tickets now\, bring a theatre buddy\, and make it a night out—Wilde’s wit hits even harder live.\nPerformances: May 14\, 15\, 16\, & 17Thursday – Friday • 7:00 pm\nSaturday • 12:00pm & 7:00pm\nSunday • 12:00 pm\nDirected by Melita Quinonez\n$25 Adults – $15 Students

Show dates are March 14–17 at 7:00 PM\, including a double-header matinee and evening on March 16. Grab your tickets now\, bring a theatre buddy\, and make it a night out—Wilde’s wit hits even harder live.\nPerformances: May 14\, 15\, 16\, & 17Thursday – Friday • 7:00 pm\nSaturday • 2:00pm & 7:00pm\nSunday • 7:00 pm\nDirected by Melita Quinonez\n$25 Adults – $15 Students

SUMMARY:"Cinderella"
DESCRIPTION:Ahhh\, Cinderella. One can’t help but love this show\, with music by Richard Rodgers and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals. All the favorite songs are in this ‘Enchanted Version” of the well-loved story. The fairytale begins with the decision to give a ball to find a bride for Prince Christopher. Thus\, Cinderella is tasked with making the her stepmother and her two stepsisters beautiful for the ball. Although she can’t go\, Cinderella remains happy and sings the beautiful “In My Own Little Corner” song. In the next scene\, we find the Queen and King arguing about the purpose of the ball\, but the preparations continue. \nCinderella is left alone until her Fairy Godmother appears and with her “fol-de-rol” and “fiddley dee\,” Cinderella is transformed for the ball. “Impossible” become possible. The ball is the ball that everyone remembers from their storybooks\, and soon Cinderella must flee at midnight leaving her slipper for the Prince to find. The Prince sets out to find his love\, but hardly recognizes Cinderella in her sooty clothes and dirty face. She is embarrassed and tries to leave. Will this version end differently? Come see the show and find out the answer. \nCinderella will be presented at the Sturgis Community Center Theater\, located at 1401 Lazelle St.\nShow times are Thursday\, June 18th\, at 7:00pm\nFriday\, June 19th\, at 7:00pm\nSaturday\, June 20th\, at 7:00pm\nSunday\, June 21st\, at 2:00pm\nAdmission is $20 for adults and $10 for students. Cash or check only at the door.
