SUMMARY:The Two Tracks
DESCRIPTION:2022 & 2024 Wyoming Arts Council Performing Arts Fellowship Winners\n“They avoid many of the cliches and gimmicks that have grown common in the Americana world while still championing a natural\, Earth-grown sound. To hear an acoustic quartet reach a level of dynamic and thematic intensity like The Two Tracks do is an immeasurably rewarding experience. It’s pure musicianship\, it’s pure excellence\, it’s pure Americana.” – American Songwriter\nRooted in the wide-open landscapes of Wyoming\, The Two Tracks create music that fuses rich storytelling\, soulful harmonies\, and the spirit of the American West. Led by songwriters Julie and Dave Huebner. With Taylor Phillips on bass and Fernando Serna on drums\, the band has carved out a sound that nods to ’70s Americana while forging something entirely their own. Dave’s signature cello playing\, woven into the band’s four-part harmonies\, brings a distinctive edge that sets them apart. \nWith four acclaimed albums and tours across the U.S. and abroad—including a performance at the World Expo in Dubai—the band has graced major stages such as Americanafest (TN)\, Kate Wolf Music Festival (CA)\, Albino Skunk Music Festival (SC)\, Red Ants Pants (MT)\, and NewWestFest (CO). They’ve also shared bills with artists like Orville Peck\, Eilen Jewell\, The Brothers Comatose\, and Shook Twins.\nTheir most recent release\, It’s a Complicated Life\, produced by Will Kimbrough and engineered by Grammy-winner Sean Sullivan\, highlights the band’s dynamic range: from Julie’s raw reflections in The Push and The Pull and Dave’s heartfelt Momma’s Gone\, to political anthems like Workingman’s Blues and the infectious rocker In the Morning.\nAt the heart of The Two Tracks is a deep commitment to connection\, on stage and on record. Their four-part harmonies\, heartfelt songwriting\, and joyful energy resonate long after the last note\, leaving audiences with the sense of having truly shared an experience. Album #5 is already on the horizon\, slated for a 2026 release.\nDoors open at 6:00 PM\, and the show starts at 7:00 PM on Friday\, April 3\, 2026\, right here at The Matthews Opera House. Tickets are $25 + Fees

SUMMARY:Easter Cantata
DESCRIPTION:It is the time of year for Sturgis-area singers to prepare for the 17th performance of its annual Easter Cantata. The choir began weekly rehearsals in February in preparation for the two upcoming performances\, one on Palm Sunday\, March 29th\, and the second on Tuesday\, March 31st\, at 7:00 pm both evenings at Grace Lutheran Church\, 1061 Sherman Street in Sturgis\, \nThis year’s cantata\, Upon This Rock\, composed by Pepper Choplin\, is told in the voice of Peter\, Jesus’ disciple. As the narration about Peter unfolds\, it is evident that he was a passionate person. This works leads the listener through his experience with Christ. As the story unfolds through Peter’s eyes\, the audience is led to ask\, “What is our passion? What is our call? Who do we live for?” \nCome experience the Easter message sung by the 64-voice choir conducted by Marlene Kotab with a portrayal of Peter by Randy Bender. Embrace the message of Upon this Rock. There is no admission charge\, but your free-will offerings are always appreciated to help cover expenses.

SUMMARY:Philip Daniel: Candlelit Piano Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a mesmerizing CANDLELIT performance by Philip Daniel.\nPhilip Daniel has earned over 30 million streams worldwide because his music doesn’t ask you to sit still and listen politely. It pulls you in. The Lincoln-based pianist and composer trained at UMKC Conservatory and creates a sound that lives somewhere between contemporary classical\, cinematic scoring\, and something you’ve never quite heard before. He uses live-looping\, layered synths\, and percussion to build compositions that feel like they’re unfolding in real time. Influenced by Ólafur Arnalds\, Nils Frahm\, and Philip Glass\, Philip has released six studio albums\, scored original soundtracks for film and dance collaborations\, and built a following that includes both conservatory-trained musicians and people who just want to feel something when they listen. This is the kind of performance that stays with you days later.\nMarch 20th at 7pm\, Philip returns to The Matthews for a candlelit concert featuring two immersive 45-minute sets. Doors open at 6:30pm\, general admission seating\, bar open. The candles\, the acoustics\, the intimacy of the space—this is how live music is supposed to feel. Affordable tickets and a night that actually delivers.\nThe Matthews brings artists like Philip Daniel to downtown Spearfish because live performances like this matter. Moments like these are what keep creativity alive in the Black Hills.\nTickets are affordable and seats are limited. This is the kind of show you don’t want to miss because someone told you about it later. Grab your tickets now\, bring a friend\, and settle in for a night of music that actually moves you.
