SUMMARY:Teachers As Artists Reception
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition highlights the creative practices of K–12 art educators from the Sioux Falls Public School District. While these individuals are best known as teachers\, this exhibition centers them as artists in their own right. \nArt education fosters critical thinking\, creative problem-solving\, and meaningful self-expression. These skills support academic learning\, emotional growth\, and civic engagement. Art teachers model these ways of thinking every day\, guiding students through processes of observation\, experimentation\, and revision. These educators are vital to the overall education of our students. \nYet the personal artistic work of educators is often unseen. By presenting their artwork in a museum setting\, this exhibition affirms that teaching art is inseparable from making art. For students and the broader community\, seeing teachers as practicing artists reinforces the value of arts education and demonstrates that creativity is a lifelong pursuit.

To ensure everyone has a great time\, we’ve set up a few house rules.\nPlease silence your cell phones. We want everyone to be present and enjoy the show.\n\nBe respectful of the comedians and your fellow audience members. This includes keeping chatter to a minimum. If you want to have a conversation\, please go downstairs to the Social Club.\n\nDo not heckle the comedians. It’s distracting and disrespectful. Anyone who heckles will be asked to leave.\n\nThere’s no cover charge for the show! The bar is located downstairs in the Social Club. This beginner-friendly course is designed both for absolute beginners and for those coming back to carving after a pause. Learn core safety and carving fundamentals using one knife\, plus a complete end-to-end project. The atmosphere is relaxed\, fun\, and supportive\, with patient coaching. \nYour registration includes a full personal carving kit to keep:\n•     High-quality carving knife\n•     Cut-resistant carving glove\n•     Finger safety tape\n•     Leather strop and stropping compound\n•     Carving pattern and basswood for project and practice\n•     Pencil\n•     Heavy canvas tool roll and a heavy-duty canvas bag \nMinimum age is 16 or 14 if accompanied by an adult in all sessions.
